Obama Backers In New Hampshire Ask: 'Why Are You In?'
'I'm in because he brought the troops home,' read one poster in the Obama campaign office in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — "I'm in because we are the change we've been waiting for."
"I'm in because I want my grandchildren to know what polar bears are."
"I'm in because the power is in the voice of the youth."
Those are a few of the handwritten signs penned by volunteers for the Obama 2012 re-election as part of a "Why Are You In?" wall aimed at inspiring them to get out the vote during Tuesday's (January 10) primary. While most of the attention has been focused on the squabbling among the Republican White House hopefuls in the Granite State, as in last week's Iowa caucus, the Obama team here has been hard at work training volunteers, making calls and reaching out to the state's legendary independent voters and committed Democrats to remind them to come out on Tuesday.
It's part of an effort to keep the president's supporters fired up and ready to go for the general election in November, and 19-year-old volunteer Kathieya Odiah said the chance to see how a campaign works has been eye-opening. "The Obama campaign is basically about having volunteers and having a grassroots campaign, so when we have volunteers come in, we always have them make posters and notes about why they come here for Obama," said Odiah, one of a number of Quinnipiac University students who will spend several weeks of their winter break working for Obama 2012.
She pointed to one of the signs she wrote, "I'm in because he brought troops home," explaining that she felt strongly about the president ending the war in Iraq.
The Manchester office, the largest of seven such locations around the state, has housed hundreds of volunteers over the past few months, and during a visit from MTV's Power of 12 team on Tuesday afternoon, young volunteers were sprawled on couches, on the floor and across several rooms as they clutched their call sheets and reached out to remind voters to make it to the polls before they closed at 8 p.m.
Odiah's friend and fellow volunteer, Long Island, New York's Morgan Farra, 20, said she's in because the president has helped make college affordable for students like her by increasing the number of Pell grant recipients by 3 million so far. "It's really important to me because if you don't have an education, you're missing out on one of the greatest experiences of your life," she said.
Inspired by the unprecedented grassroots campaign run by Obama in 2008, 19-year-old Natalie Deduck said she has been putting in the 10- to 12-hour days at the Manchester office because she knows the importance of starting early and strong in order to rally the troops again. Jameson Cherilus, 22, is typical of the office's volunteers. He started his day around 8 a.m. outside an elementary school, where he held up signs for the president and reminded primary voters that Obama was on the ballot before hitting the office for a long day of phone calls.
"I'm here because President Obama supports small business," read another sign that shouted out Flanders Fish Market in East Lyme, Connecticut.
"It's been pretty hard getting my ... friends involved in the campaign [because] they honestly don't understand how important it is to start now even though it's only January," said Odiah about the challenges she's faced while making calls in Manchester and speaking to her peers about what she's doing. "We have to explain to people that we need to start now.
"[Once] Republicans choose who they're going to have for their candidate, they're already going to have half of the votes. ... Yeah, [Obama's] going to win the primary, but this is a dry run. This is our way of knowing this is what it's going to look like in November. It's hard."

<P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:715720" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bublé, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> cut. JB then slowed things down with <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),"</a> leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. "God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. <i>Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

'The Devil Inside' Defies Expectations At Box Office
Horror flick was the weekend's front-runner with $34.5 million debut.

Box-office prognosticators, beware: "The Devil Inside" defied all industry expectations with its $34.5 million debut this weekend.
That's more than double where most estimates put the film just a few days ago. And despite mixed reviews, the supernatural horror thriller earned more than 34 times its estimated production budget of less than $1 million.
Perhaps the devil is in the details: "Devil" made 49 percent of its weekend total on Friday and was the only new wide release in theaters, with the exception of the acclaimed drama "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy." The Cold War era espionage tale, which expanded to 809 locations, had the weekend's second-best per-screen average, just behind "Devil" at 2,285 locations.
Nevertheless, the Paramount-distributed "Devil" had the third-biggest January opening ever, just behind 2008's "Cloverfield" and the 1997 re-release of the first "Star Wars." "Devil" was acquired by the Paramount imprint Insurge, which was created after the success of the first "Paranormal Activity" in 2009.
Paramount was the studio behind the weekend's second biggest movie of the weekend as well. "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" is the best-reviewed film of the Tom Cruise franchise and dropped a respectable 30 percent after a nice run at the top of the heap. "Ghost Protocol" earned $20.5 million for a total of $170.2 million, which should put it past the first "M:I" movie in a few days.
"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" made $14.1 million in its fourth week of release to come in at #3. The sequel was #1 at the box office in other parts of the world and has made a total of $157.4 million domestically. "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" had the best hold of any of the previously wide-released movies over the weekend, dropping just 24 percent. "Dragon Tattoo" was #4 with $11.3 million for a $76.8 million three-week total. The animated "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" rounded out the top five with $9.5 million for a four-week total of $111.6 million.

Exclusive Interview: Bristol Palin and Tripp: We Belong in Alaska

Bristol Palin had an amazing, life-changing experience on Dancing With the Stars, but not long after the show ended, she realized life in the spotlight wasn?t all glitz and glamour, landing her back behind the reception desk at a dermatologist?s office in Anchorage, which can be a three-hour commute in bad weather. The turning point, Bristol tells In Touch in an exclusive interview, came last September, when ? in a much-reported episode ? she was accosted at the Saddle Ranch in LA by a man who hurled nasty insults at her about her famous family. After footage of the altercation went viral, Bristol, 21, realized she was done with showbiz ? and that she?d never felt totally at home in the Lower 48. ?I wasn?t really into the Hollywood thing,? she says. ?After that, I just realized that I was over it. I was ready to come home.?
Of course, there was another big reason Bristol wanted to move back to Alaska ? for the sake of her 3-year-old son, Tripp. ?He?s going to be starting preschool soon, so we needed to settle into a routine,? she explains. ?When we?re here, Tripp is outside all the time? his cheeks are always bright red!? So, Bristol and Tripp headed back to Wasilla and temporarily moved into the apartment under her mom?s TV studio on their property. ?It?s great having Bristol here,? Sarah tells In Touch. ?She makes good decisions, and she?s always thinking long-term about her and Tripp?s future.?
Though Bristol has the full support of her family, she?s still getting zero help from Tripp?s father, Levi Johnston, whom she often sees driving around town in his truck. ?He?s not using his visitation, and he?s not paying his child support,? Bristol reports.

Liam Hemsworth Is One To Watch In 2012
'You have to pinch yourself when you're on set,' 'Hunger Games' star says of filming 'Expendables 2.'
By Kara Warner

Tall, dark and talented, Aussie-born actor Liam Hemsworth first came to our attention when he was cast opposite Miley Cyrus in 2010's weepy romance "The Last Song." Although all eyes were on Cyrus in her first big role outside "Hannah Montana" or Disney, Hemsworth more than held his own opposite the teen phenom. The fact that he and Cyrus became a couple in real life didn't exactly keep him out of the spotlight either, not to mention that he was often spotted in support of his older brother Chris Hemsworth's projects.
With roles in two of the year's most anticipated films, "The Hunger Games" and "The Expendables 2" — both likely blockbusters and huge vote getters in our Movie Brawl —. Hemsworth is poised to be one of 2012's brightest stars, so it makes perfect sense that he's one of our Ones to Watch this year.
We're counting down the days until we get to see him as Gale Hawthorne in the big-screen version of Suzanne Collins' bestseller on March 23, followed by the arrival of "Expendables 2" in August. MTV News recently caught up with the man himself to see what has him excited about his projects this year.
"I'm excited for 'The Hunger Games' to come out; I'm excited to see it," he said. "I just shot 'Expendables 2' ... That's another film that I want to go see. It will be weird that I'm in it."
Hemsworth admitted that he was a bit starstruck on the set of "Expendables 2," given that the cast is chock-full of Hollywood's most celebrated action stars.
"I grew up watching these guys and their movies, and then all of a sudden you have to pinch yourself when you're on set. You're looking at [Sylvester] Stallone, [Jason] Statham, [Randy] Couture, Terry Crews, [Jean-Claude] Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren," he said. "It's silly, it really is.
"You couldn't ask for a bunch of better guys than them," Hemsworth added. "They're so professional, good guys, so welcoming. That can be such a daunting thing for an actor to come on set with those guys, and they honestly couldn't have been nicer. They're just amazing."
What are you waiting for? Your must-see movie needs your support. It's time to show character, poise and heart. Vote for your picks now at MTV Movie Brawl 2012!

Justin Bieber was enlisted by Ellen DeGeneres to help give back to Whitney Elementary, a Las Vegas school that helps underprivileged children. And in addition to donating $100,000 and $100,000 worth of toys, the always-charitable singer performed for the room full of Beliebers.
Bieber even answered some burning questions about his hair, his favorite color and his rise to fame. But, perhaps it was his response about his lady love, Selena Gomez, that had the room most giggly.
"What do me and Selena do on the weekends?" he pondered to the room full of school kids. "We go to the movies. And we kiss," he whispered, later laughing, "No, we don't do that."
He answered a number of other of the kids' inquiries in a rather quick-fire round. "Do I miss home? Yes, very much," he said. "Cause I'm always traveling and I'm always away from a lot of my family and friends. So, it can be hard. But, once I get to go home and see my family, it's always a pleasure."
Before leaving, he had these words of wisdom for the kids: "Be nice to each other and treat each other with respect and grow up to be people of character."
The episode aired Wednesday and when he chatted with the school's principal, Sherrie Gahn, he opened up about his own struggles growing up in Canada. "I'm here to bring a smile to these kids' faces. For me, I grew up and I didn't have a lot. We went to food banks to get food for me and my grandparents. Really, if I didn't have my grandparents to help me and these kids they have you to help them," he said. "And it's really special."
